Saikhom Mirabai Chanu: A Profile of Grit and Glory...
✒️Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (born August 8, 1994) is one of India's most celebrated and accomplished weightlifters. Hailing from a modest family in Nongpok Kakching, Imphal East, Manipur, her journey to global sports icon status is a masterclass in resilience, discipline, and profound gratitude.
Early Struggles and the Highway Lifts :
✒️Mirabai's path to greatness was forged through immense hardship. During her early days of training, regular public transportation from her village to the Khuman Lampak Sports Academy in Imphal roughly about 25 to 30 kilometers away was scarce, and financial resources were tight.
✒️To make it to practice, she relied on the kindness of local truck drivers who hauled river sand and stones into the city, catching rides with them to reach her training sessions. True to her humble roots, after achieving global stardom, she made it a point to track down those very same truckers, organizing a heartfelt event to honor them with traditional Manipuri scarves and a meal to thank them for helping her reach her dreams.

✒️She previously won gold at Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022.
