The Oaths Act, 1969 :
āļøIt was enacted & enforced on 26th December 1969, to consolidate and amend the law relating to judicial oaths and for certain other purposes.
The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 :
āļøIt was enacted on 26th December 1960 & came into force on 1st April 1961, to prevent the infliction of unnecessary pain or suffering on animals and for that purpose to amend the law relating to the prevention of cruelty to animals.

āļøToday is the 20th anniversary of Tsunami tragic event, on this 26th day of December 2004, a 9.3-magnitude earthquake in the Indian Ocean triggered a tsunami that caused heavy damage in Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Maldives. More than 10 thousand people died in the coastal area of āāTamil Nadu due to this tsunami.

āļøCharles Babbage, known as the father of the computer, was born on December 26, 1791 in London. Joining Trinity University in Cambridge in 1810, he showed great talent in mathematics. He created the first computer called Analytical Engine by combining mathematics and mechanics. Charles Babbage designed the early computing engines Analytical Engine and Difference Engine. He died on 18th October 1871.

ą®Ŗą®¾ą®Ŗą®¾ ą®ą®®ąÆą®¤ąÆ - Baba Amte - Indian social worker - Advocate :
āļøMurlidhar Devidas Amte, fondly known as 'Baba Amte' was born on 26th December 1914 in the village of Hinganghat in Wardha District, Maharashtra. During the 1942 Quit India Movement, he gathered lawyers and advocated for the jailed leaders. Gandhiji used to call him a 'valiant seeker of truth'. He started a center for diagnosis and treatment of leprosy. The government gave him some land and he set up small huts there, taught handicrafts to the patients there and started a school for the blind with the profits. In 1988 he started the Bharat Jodo (Unification of India) Pada Yatra to emphasize the unity and integrity of India. He has received many national and international awards like Padma Vibhushan, Gandhi Peace Prize, Magsaysay. Baba Amte, who worked for the underprivileged till his last breath, passed away on February 9, 2008 at the age of 93.
