✒️It was enacted on 8th May 1975 & came into force on 1st January 1976, to give effect to the Convention on offences and certain other acts committed on board aircraft.
✒️It was enacted on 8th May 1955 & came into force on 1st June 1955, to prescribe punishment for the preaching and practice of Untouchability for the enforcement of any disability arising therefrom and for matters connected therewith.

✒️World Thalassaemia Day is celebrated on 8th May every year. Thalassaemia is a congenital disease in children. A child with thalassaemia has a low level of hemoglobin in the blood. As a result, they become anemic. Also, the oxygen that is breathed in is blocked from moving from the lungs to other parts of the body. Therefore, the main objective of this program is to create awareness among people about Thalassaemia disease.
✒️ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மே 8ஆம் தேதி உலக தாலசீமியா நோய் தினமாகக் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. தாலசீமியா என்கிற நோய் குழந்தைகளுக்குப் பிறவியிலேயே ஏற்படக்கூடிய ஒரு நோயாகும். தாலசீமியா பாதித்த குழந்தைக்கு இரத்தத்தில் ஹீமோகுளோபின் அளவு குறைவாக இருக்கும். இதனால், அவர்களுக்கு இரத்தச்சோகை ஏற்படும். மேலும் சுவாசிக்கும் ஆக்சிஜன், நுரையீரலில் இருந்து மற்ற பகுதிக்கு செல்வதில் தடை ஏற்படுகிறது. அதனால், மக்களிடம் தாலசீமியா நோய் குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவதே இத்தினத்தின் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும்.

✒️Jean-Henry Dunant, winner of the first Nobel Peace Prize and founder of the Red Cross, was born on May 8, 1828 in Switzerland. In honor of his birthday, World Red Cross Day is celebrated every year. Once on his way to a town called Salferino, he saw a gruesome battle scene on the way. He was saddened to see it and joined the people and helped the injured soldiers. Even after returning to his hometown of Geneva, he remembered only the war and its miseries. As a result, Solferino published a book called "A Memory of Solferino". In that book, he called for an international organization to provide impartial aid to wounded soldiers wherever war takes place in the world. Then in 1863, the Red Cross Society was formed. He was the first to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1901, the year the Nobel Prize was established. He who created humanity without discrimination all over the world passed away on October 30, 1910.
✒️அமைதிக்கான முதல் நோபல் பரிசைப் பெற்றவரும், செஞ்சிலுவை சங்கத்தை உருவாக்கியவருமான ஜீன் ஹென்றி டியூனண்ட் 1828ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 8ஆம் தேதி ஸ்விட்சர்லாந்தில் பிறந்தார். இவரது பிறந்த தினத்தை போற்றும் வகையில் ஆண்டுதோறும், உலக செஞ்சிலுவை தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. ஒருமுறை சால்ஃபரீனோ என்ற நகருக்கு சென்ற போது வழியில் கொடூரமான போர்க்களக் காட்சிகளைக் கண்டார். அதை பார்த்து மனம் வருந்திய இவர் மக்களோடு இணைந்து, காயமடைந்த வீரர்களுக்கு உதவினார். தன் சொந்த ஊரான ஜெனீவாவுக்குத் திரும்பிய பிறகும்கூட, இவருக்கு போரும் அதன் அவலங்களும் மட்டுமே நினைவில் நின்றன. அதன் காரணமாக சால்ஃபரீனோ நினைவுகள் (A Memory of Solferino) என்ற பெயரில் நூல் ஒன்றை வெளியிட்டார். அந்த புத்தகத்தில் உலகில் எங்கு போர் நடந்தாலும், காயமடைந்த வீரர்களுக்கு பாரபட்சமின்றி உதவ சர்வதேச அளவில் ஒரு அமைப்பு உருவாக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்று குறிப்பிட்டார். பிறகு 1863ஆம் ஆண்டு அந்த அமைப்பான செஞ்சிலுவை சங்கம் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது. நோபல் பரிசு தொடங்கப்பட்ட ஆண்டான 1901ஆம் ஆண்டு இவருக்கு முதன்முதலாக அமைதிக்கான நோபல் பரிசு வழங்கப்பட்டது. மனிதநேயத்தை உலகம் முழுவதும் பாரபட்சமின்றி உருவாக்கிய இவர் 1910ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 30ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.
