✒️About 2-3.5 million women in developing countries are living with this disease. Fifty thousand to one lakh people are affected by it every year. Therefore, a campaign was started in 2003 to abolish it completely. Therefore, the United Nations has declared May 23rd as International Day to End Obstetric Fistula.

✒️Carolus Linnaeus, the father of modern taxonomy, was born on May 23, 1707, in the village of Rashult, Sweden. After completing his studies, he worked as a lecturer in a university. After that he researched not only plants and birds but also geography and wrote numerous notes. Discovered new species of plants and wrote a book called Flora Lapponica. His System of Nature was published in 1735 and created a stir in the botanical world. In 1753, he arranged, classified and named all the plants in Plant Species, which is regarded as a masterpiece in the field of natural science. Considered one of the pioneers of modern ecology, Carolus Linnaeus died on January 10, 1778.
✒️நவீன வகைப்பாட்டியலின் தந்தை, கார்ல் லின்னேயஸ் 1707ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 23ஆம் தேதி ஸ்வீடனின் ராஷல்ட் கிராமத்தில் பிறந்தார். இவர் படிப்பை முடித்துவிட்டு ஒரு பல்கலைக்கழகத்தில் விரிவுரையாளராக பணியாற்றினார். அதன்பிறகு தாவரங்கள், பறவைகள் மட்டுமல்லாமல் புவியியல் குறித்தும் ஆராய்ந்து ஏராளமான குறிப்புகளை எழுதினார். புதுவகை தாவரங்களை கண்டறிந்து "ஃப்ளோரோ லேப்போனிகா" (Flora Lapponica) என்ற நூலை எழுதினார். இவரது "இயற்கையின் அமைப்பு" (Systema Naturae) நூல் 1735-ல் வெளிவந்து, தாவரவியல் உலகில் பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்தியது. 1753-ல் இயற்கை அறிவியல் களத்தில் மாஸ்டர் பீஸ் எனக் குறிப்பிடப்பட்ட "தி ஸ்பீசிஸ் ஆப் பிளான்ட்ஸ்" (Species Plantarum-The Species of Plants) நூலில் அனைத்து தாவரங்களையும் வரிசைப்படுத்தி, வகைப்படுத்தி, அனைத்திற்கும் பொருத்தமாக பெயர் சூட்டினார். தற்கால சூழலியலின் முன்னோடிகளில் ஒருவராக கருதப்படும் கார்ல் லின்னேயஸ் 70வது வயதில் (10.1.1778) மறைந்தார்.
