✒️It was enacted & enforced on 23rd March 1974, to provide for the prevention and control of water pollution and the maintaining or restoring of wholesomeness of water, for the establishment, with a view to carrying out the purposes aforesaid, of Boards for the prevention and control of water pollution, for conferring on and assigning to such Boards powers and functions relating thereto and for matters connected therewith.

✒️G.D.Naidu (Gopalswamy Duraiswamy Naidu), the great scientific genius and great inventor hailed as 'Edison of India', was born on March 23, 1893 in Kalangal village, Coimbatore district. Although he did not studied much, he acquired many books and developed his knowledge. At the age of 18, he imported painkillers made in America and sold them here. It was also profitable. Then he designed the bike so that another person could sit on the side. He started a cotton mill in Tirupur. Through this, he became a great businessman. Then there was an unexpected loss in the business. Later he engaged in the transport business and ran a bus service between Pollachi-Palani. After that he started Universal Motor Service. He went on to create a device that shows bus departure times, a ticket issuing device, an engine vibration detection device, a juicer, and a blade for shaving without cuts. His razor, blade won 1st and 3rd prizes at an exhibition in Germany. Many countries approached him for getting rights of manufacturing blade but he refused to give the rights to manufacture these, and he finally gave the right to an American company. The results of his plant research amazed the world. The German honored his miraculous cotton plant by naming it Naidu Cotton. G.D.Naidu, who was born in an ordinary village and achieved many rare achievements, passed away on January 4, 1974. An exhibition and museum with his inventions has been set up at Avinasi Road, Coimbatore.
✒️ 'இந்தியாவின் எடிசன்" என்று போற்றப்பட்ட சிறந்த அறிவியல் மேதையும், மகத்தான கண்டுபிடிப்பாளருமான ஜி.டி.நாயுடு (கோபால்சாமி துரைசாமி நாயுடு) 1893ஆம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் 23ஆம் தேதி கோயம்புத்தூர் மாவட்டம், கலங்கல் கிராமத்தில் பிறந்தார். இவர் அதிகம் படிக்கவில்லை என்றாலும் பல நூல்களை வாங்கிப் படித்து அறிவை வளர்த்துக்கொண்டார். இவர் 18 வயதில் அமெரிக்காவில் தயாராகும் வலி நிவாரணியை அங்கிருந்து வரவழைத்து, இங்கு விற்பனை செய்தார். அதில் லாபமும் கிடைத்தது. பிறகு இவர் பைக்கை, பக்கவாட்டில் இன்னொருவர் அமரும் வகையில் வடிவமைத்தார். திருப்பூரில் பருத்தி ஆலையை தொடங்கினார். இதன் மூலம் பெரும் தொழிலதிபராக உயர்ந்தார். அதன்பின் தொழிலில் எதிர்பாராதவிதமாக நஷ்டம் ஏற்பட்டது. பிறகு போக்குவரத்து தொழிலில் ஈடுபட்டு பொள்ளாச்சி-பழநி இடையே பஸ் சர்வீஸ் நடத்தினார். அதன்பின்பு யுனிவர்செல் மோட்டார் சர்வீஸ் நிறுவனத்தை தொடங்கினார். பேருந்து புறப்படும் நேரத்தைக் காட்டும் கருவி, பயணச்சீட்டு வழங்கும் கருவி, இன்ஜின் அதிர்வைக் கண்டறியும் கருவி, பழச்சாறு பிழியும் கருவி, வெட்டுக்காயம் இல்லாமல் முகச்சவரம் செய்துக்கொள்ள பிளேடு என தொடர்ந்து பல பொருட்களை உருவாக்கினார். ஜெர்மனியில் நடந்த பொருட்காட்சியில் இவரது சவரக்கத்தி, பிளேடுக்கு முதல் மற்றும் 3வது பரிசுகள் கிடைத்தன. இவற்றை தயாரிக்கும் உரிமையை பல நாடுகள் கேட்டும் மறுத்த இவர், இறுதியாக அமெரிக்க நிறுவனத்திற்கு அந்த உரிமையை கொடுத்துவிட்டார். இவரது தாவர ஆராய்ச்சி முடிவுகள் உலகையே பிரமிக்க வைத்தன. இவரது அதிசய பருத்திச் செடிக்கு நாயுடு காட்டன் என பெயரிட்டு ஜெர்மன் கௌரவித்தது. சாதாரண கிராமத்தில் பிறந்து பல அரிய சாதனைகளை படைத்த ஜி.டி.நாயுடு 1974ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 4ந் தேதி மறைந்தார். கோவை அவிநாசி சாலையில் இவரது கண்டுபிடிப்புகளுடன் கூடிய கண்காட்சி, அருங்காட்சியகம் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
