The Presidency Small Cause Courts Act, 1882 :

āœ’ļøIt was enacted on 17th March 1882 & came into force on 1st July 1882, to consolidate and amend the law relating to the Courts of Small Causes established in the Presidency-towns.


The Dissolution of Muslim Marriages Act, 1939 :

āœ’ļøIt was enacted & enforced on 17th March 1939, to consolidate and clarify the provisions of Muslim law relating to suits for dissolution of marriage by women married under Muslim law and to remove doubts as to the effect of the renunciation of Islam by a married Muslim woman on her marriage tie.


The Charitable Endowments Act, 1890 :

āœ’ļøIt was enacted on 17th March 1890 & came into force on 1st October 1890, to provide for the vesting and administration of property held in trust for charitable purposes.


The Coconut Development Board Act, 1979 :

āœ’ļøIt was enacted on 17th March 1979 & came into force on 12th January 1981, to provide for the development under the control of the Union of the coconut industry and for matters connected therewith.


ą®•ą®²ąÆą®Ŗą®©ą®¾ ą®šą®¾ą®µąÆą®²ą®¾ - Kalpana Chawla -  Astronaut - Aerospace Engineer - (First Woman of Indian Origin went to Space) :

āœ’ļøIndia's first female astronaut Kalpana Chawla was born on March 17, 1962 in Karnal, Haryana. (Her school certificates shows that she was born on July 1, 1961). She made the first spacewalk in 1997 with a crew of six aboard the Columbia spacecraft STS-87. The spacecraft spent 16 days of research in space and circled the Earth 252 times. Again in 2003, a crew of seven including Kalpana went aboard the Columbia spacecraft STS-107. On February 1, about 15 minutes before landing, the shuttle exploded and seven people died including Kalpana. Kalpana Chawla who conquered the sky passed away on February 1, 2003 at the age of 40. To honor her, the Government of Karnataka and the Government of India have been giving awards in her name to women achievers.

Saina Nehwal - Indian Badminton Player

āœ’ļøSaina Nehwal, the first Indian player to win an Olympic Badminton medal, was born on 17 March 1990 in Haryana. She set a record by winning a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics. He has also won various medals. In 2015, she was ranked number one in the women's singles category in the world badminton rankings. She has also received India's highest awards like Padma Shri, Arjuna, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and many other awards. She has made many records in the World Badminton Tournament.

āœ’ļøWalter Rudolf Hess, winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine, was born on March 17, 1881 in Switzerland. After graduating in medicine in 1906, he trained as a surgeon. He developed a viscometer to measure the viscosity of blood. He also developed the Hess screen to detect degrees of astigmatism. In 1912, he left his work as an ophthalmologist and joined a scientist named Justus Gaule to engage in physiological research. In the early 1930s, he began using cats to investigate the function of the midbrain region that controls the viscera. For this discovery he won the Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology in 1949 along with Egas Moniz. Walter Rudolf Hess, who carried out research in physiology and contributed immensely to the field, died on August 12, 1973.
