The Right to Information Act, 2005 :

✒️It was enacted on 15th June 2005 & came into force on 13th October 2005 (enforcement date : Ss. 4(1), 5(1) (2), 12, 13, 15, 16, 24, 27, 28 (15-6-2005) and rest provisions on 120th day of its enactment), to provide for setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities, in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority, the constitution of a Central Information Commission and State Information Commissions and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

✒️Right to Information empowers every citizen to seek any information from the Government, inspect any Government documents and seek certified photocopies or samples thereof. 

Section 2(f) of the RTI Act defines Information as :

“Information” means any material in any form, including records, documents, memos, e-mails, opinions, advices, press releases, circulars, orders, logbooks, contracts, reports, papers, samples, models, data material held in any electronic form and information relating to any private body which can be accessed by a public authority under any other law for a time being in force.

Right to Information (RTI) is defined under Section 2(j) as:

“Right to Information” means the Right to Information accessible under this Act which is held by or under the control of any public authority and includes the right to-

  • i. Inspection of work, documents, records;
  • ii. Taking notes, extracts, or certified copies of documents or records;
  • iii. Taking certified of materials;
  • iv. Obtaining information in the form of diskettes, floppies, tapes, video cassettes or in any other electronic mode or through printouts where such information is stored in a computer or in any other device.

Objective of the Right to Information Act:

The basic object of the Right to Information Act is to empower the citizens. Promote transparency and accountability in the working of the Government. Contain corruption and make our democracy work for the people in real sense.It goes without saying that an informed citizen is better equipped to keep necessary vigil on the instruments of governance and make the government more accountable to the governed. The Act is a big step towards making the citizens informed about the activities of the Government.

Salient features of Right to Information Act:

All citizens possess the right to information. Information can be obtained within 30 days from the date of request in normal case. If information is a matter of life or liberty of a person, it can be obtained within 48 hours from time of request. Every public authority is under obligation to provide information on written request or request by electronic means. Certain information are prohibited (Section 8). Restrictions made for third party information. Appeal against the decision of the Central Information Commission or State Information Commission can be made to an officer who is senior in rank.


முதியோர் வன்கொடுமை விழிப்புணர்வு தினம் - World Elder Abuse Awareness Day :

✒️The day is observed on June 15 every year to emphasize that all seniors in the world should be treated with respect, about 4 to 6 percent of seniors do not get the respect which they deserved. Thus suffering both physically and mentally. Hence, The United Nations has announced this day to treat the elderly with respect.

  • உலகில் உள்ள அனைத்து முதியவர்களுக்கும் மரியாதை கொடுக்கவும், மரியாதையுடன் நடத்த வேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்தும் வகையில் உலக முதியோர் வன்கொடுமை விழிப்புணர்வு தினம் ஜூன் 15ஆம் தேதி அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது. சுமார் 4 முதல் 6 சதவீதம் முதியோர்களுக்கு உரிய மரியாதை கிடைப்பதில்லை. இதனால் உடல்ரீதியாகவும், மனரீதியாகவும் பாதிக்கப்படுகின்றனர். முதியவர்களை மரியாதையுடன் நடத்த ஐ.நா.சபை இத்தினத்தை அறிவித்துள்ளது.


உலக காற்று தினம் - Global Wind Day :

✒️World Wind Day is observed as an awareness day emphasizing the importance of wind.

  • உலக காற்று தினம் ஆண்டுதோறும் ஜூன் 15ஆம் தேதி கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. இது காற்றாற்றலைக் கொண்டாடும் தினமாகும். இதை ஐரோப்பிய காற்று ஆற்றல் ஆணையமும், உலகளாவிய காற்று ஆற்றல் மன்றமும் ஒழுங்குப்படுத்தி வருகின்றது. மேலும் காற்றின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை வலியுறுத்தும் விழிப்புணர்வு நாளாக உலக காற்று தினம் அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.

அண்ணா ஹசாரே - Kisan Baburao Hazare (Anna Hazare) - Indian Social Activist :

✒️Kisan Baburao Hazare, fondly called as Anna Hazare was an Social activist, fighter against corruption and played a vital role in the Indian anti-corruption movement and the enactment of The Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013, hunger strike is his strong weapon against the government to pressurising and accepting his demands. He made up after reading the biographies of Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi and Vinoba Bhave, he made the upliftment of the poor his lifelong goal. He has received many awards like Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri, Mahaveer Award, International Unity Award, Jit Gill Memorial Award.

  • சமூக ஆர்வலரான கிசான் பாபுராவ் ஹசாரே எனப்படும் அண்ணா ஹசாரே அவர்கள், 1937ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் 15ஆம் தேதி இந்தியாவின் மகாராஷ்டிரா மாநிலத்திலுள்ள பிங்கார் என்னும் இடத்தில் பிறந்தார். சுவாமி விவேகானந்தர், மகாத்மா காந்தி மற்றும் வினோபா பாவேயின் வாழ்க்கை வரலாறுகளை படித்த பிறகு ஏழைகள் மேம்பாட்டை தனது வாழ்நாள் நோக்கமாகக் கொண்டார். இவர் பத்ம பூஷண், பத்மஸ்ரீ, மஹாவீர் விருது, சர்வதேச ஒருமைப்பாட்டு விருது, சிட் கில் நினைவு விருது போன்ற பல விருதுகளை பெற்றுள்ளார்.

🌟 1950ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் 15ஆம் தேதி உலகளவில் அதிக இரும்புகளை தயாரிக்கும் மித்தல் இரும்பு நிறுவனத்தின் தலைவரான இலட்சுமி மித்தல் ராஜஸ்தான் மாநிலத்தில் பிறந்தார் - Lakshmi Mittal was born on June 15, 1950 in Rajasthan, the chairman of Mittal Iron Company, the world's largest steel producer.


🌟 1948ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் 15ஆம் தேதி அண்ணாமலைப் பல்கலைக்கழகம், தமிழிசை இயக்கம் ஆகியவற்றின் அமைப்பாளருமான அண்ணாமலை செட்டியார் மறைந்தார் - Annamalai Chettiar, the organizer of Annamalai University and the Tamil Music Movement, passed away on June 15, 1948.


🌟 2013ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் 15ஆம் தேதி தமிழ் திரைப்பட நடிகரும், இயக்குநருமான மணிவண்ணன் மறைந்தார் - Manivannan, a Tamil film actor and director, passed away on June 15, 2013.
