✒️It was enacted on 5th June 1993 & came into force on 26th January 1997, to provide for the prohibition of employment of manual scavengers as well as construction or continuance of dry latrines and for the regulation of construction and maintenance of water-seal latrines and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
✒️It was enacted on 5th June 2007 & came into force on 15th August 2007, to declare [certain institutions of technology, science education and research] to be Institutions of national importance and to provide for instructions and research in branches of engineering, technology, management, education, sciences and arts and for the advancement of learning and dissemination of knowledge in such branches and for certain other matters connected with such institutions.
✒️World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June since 1972 by the United Nations to protect the environment. Its main objective is to create awareness about protecting the environment.

✒️Muhammad Ismail, one of the Indian Muslim leaders hailed as the venerable "Quaid-e-Millat", was born on 5th June 1896 in Tirunelveli. He left his studies midway to join Mahatma Gandhi's non-cooperation movement and took part in the Indian freedom struggle. He also served as President of Indian Union Muslim League, Member of Legislative Council (1946-52), Member of Upper House (Rajya Sabha) (1952-58) and Member of Parliament Lok Sabha (1962, 1967, 1971). A leader who guided the people, Ismail passed away on 5th April 1972 at the age of 75. After his death, the Tamil Nadu government renamed Nagapattinam district as "Nagai Quaid-e-Millat" district.
✒️கண்ணியத்திற்குரிய காயிதே மில்லத் என்று போற்றப்படும் இந்திய முஸ்லீம் தலைவர்களுள் ஒருவரான முகம்மது இஸ்மாயில் 1896ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் 5ஆம் தேதி திருநெல்வேலியில் பிறந்தார். இவர் மகாத்மா காந்தியின் ஒத்துழையாமை இயக்கத்தில் கலந்து கொள்வதற்காக படிப்பை பாதியிலேயே விட்டுவிட்டு இந்திய விடுதலைப் போராட்டத்தில் பங்கு கொண்டார். மேலும், இவர் இந்திய யூனியன் முஸ்லீம் லீக் தலைவராகவும், சட்ட சபை உறுப்பினராகவும் (1946-52), டெல்லி மேலவை உறுப்பினராகவும் (1952-58), நாடாளுமன்ற மக்களவை உறுப்பினராகவும் (1962,1967,1971) பதவி வகித்துள்ளார். மக்களுக்கு வழிகாட்டும் தலைவரான இஸ்மாயில் தனது 75வது வயதில் 1972ஆம் ஆண்டு ஏப்ரல் 5ந் தேதி மறைந்தார். இவரின் மறைவுக்குப்பின் தமிழக அரசு நாகப்பட்டினம் மாவட்டத்திற்கு காயிதே மில்லத் நாகைப்பட்டினம் மாவட்டம் என்று பெயர் சூட்டியது.
