✒️Pollachi Na.Mahalingam, who provided employment to many youths and was a mentor to entrepreneurs, was born on March 21, 1923 in Pollachi, Coimbatore. He is involved in business through his father. He started various business and business projects. He rose to head the Shakthi Group of Companies. Through his labors he expanded the business empire into Sugar Mill, Soft Drinks, Soya Mill, Automobiles, Finance, APT Transport, Parcel Service. Actively worked in the Congress party and was elected MLA from Pollachi constituency in 1952, 1957 and 1962. Since 1969, he has stayed away from politics and concentrated on social work. He has received many awards including Padma Bhushan, Indira Gandhi Integrity Award and Mauritius Government Award for his social service. Pollachi Na.Mahalingam, popularly known as 'Arutselvar' who achieved numerous achievements in various fields, passed away on 2nd October 2014 on Gandhi Jayanthi.
✒️ ஏராளமான இளைஞர்களுக்கு வேலைவாய்ப்பை வழங்கியதோடு, தொழில் முனைவோருக்கு வழிகாட்டியாகத் திகழ்ந்த பொள்ளாச்சி நா.மகாலிங்கம் 1923ஆம் ஆண்டு மார்ச் 21ஆம் தேதி கோவை மாவட்டம் பொள்ளாச்சியில் பிறந்தார். இவர் தந்தை வழியில் தொழிலில் ஈடுபட்டவர். இவர் பல்வேறு தொழில், வணிக திட்டங்களைத் தொடங்கினார். சக்தி குழும நிறுவனங்களின் தலைவராக உயர்ந்தார். சர்க்கரை ஆலை, மென்பானங்கள், சோயா ஆலை, ஆட்டோமொபைல்ஸ், நிதி, ஏபிடி டிரான்ஸ்போர்ட், பார்சல் சர்வீஸ் என தொழில் சாம்ராஜ்ஜியத்தை தனது உழைப்பால் விரிவுப்படுத்தினார். காங்கிரஸ் கட்சியில் தீவிரமாகப் பணியாற்றி 1952, 1957, 1962ஆம் ஆண்டுகளில் பொள்ளாச்சி தொகுதி எம்.எல்.ஏவாக தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டார். 1969ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் அரசியலில் இருந்து விலகி, சமூகப் பணிகளில் கவனம் செலுத்தினார். இவரது சமூக சேவையைப் பாராட்டி பத்ம பூஷண், இந்திரா காந்தி ஒருமைப்பாட்டு விருது, மொரீஷியஸ் அரசு விருது உட்பட பல விருதுகளைப் பெற்றுள்ளார். பல்வேறு துறைகளில் ஏராளமான சாதனைகளை செய்த 'அருட்செல்வர்" என அழைக்கப்பட்ட பொள்ளாச்சி நா.மகாலிங்கம் 2014ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 2ந்தேதி காந்தி ஜெயந்தியன்று மறைந்தார்.
