The Plantations Labour Act, 1951:
✒️It was enacted on 2nd November 1951 and came into force on 1st April 1954, to provide for the welfare of labour, and to regulate the conditions of work, in plantations.
- Sec 2 (f) "plantation" means any plantation to which this Act, whether wholly or in part, applies and includes offices, hospitals, dispensaries, schools, and any other premises used for any purpose connected with such plantation, but does not include any factory on the premises to which the provisions of the Factories Act, 1948 (63 of 1948) apply;]
- (k) "worker" means a person employed in a plantation for hire or reward, whether directly or through any agency, to do any work, skilled, unskilled, manual or clerical 9[and includes a person employed on contract for more than sixty days in a year], but does not include-
- (i) a medical officer employed in the plantation;
- (ii) any person employed in the plantation (including any member of the medical staff) whose monthly wages exceed 10 [rupees ten thousand];
- (iii) any person employed in the plantation primarily in a 11[managerial or administrative capacity, notwithstanding that his monthly wages do not exceed ten thousand]; or
- (iv) any person temporarily employed in the plantation in any work relating to the construction, development or maintenance of buildings, roads, bridges, drains or canals;]
- Section 36 - Other offences: Whoever contravenes any of the provisions of this Act or of any rules made thereunder for which no other penalty is elsewhere provided by or under this Act shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 1[six months, or with fine which may extend to ten thousand rupees, or with both].
ஊடகவியலாளர்களுக்கு எதிரான குற்றங்களுக்கான தண்டனையின்மையை முடிவுக்குக் கொண்டுவருவதற்கான சர்வதேச தினம் - International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists :
✒️In December 2013, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 2 November as the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists. The date was chosen in commemoration of the assassination in Mali of Claude Verlon and Ghislaine Dupont, two French journalists, on 2 November 2013. Journalists to promote a safe and conducive environment for them to carry out their work independently and without undue interference, It is observed to bring to justice those involved in crimes against media workers and to ensure that the victims get appropriate relief.
- டிசம்பர் 2013 இல், ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் பொதுச் சபை நவம்பர் 2 ஆம் தேதியை பத்திரிகையாளர்களுக்கு எதிரான குற்றங்களுக்கான தண்டனையின்மையை முடிவுக்குக் கொண்டுவருவதற்கான சர்வதேச தினமாக அறிவித்தது. நவம்பர் 2ஆம் தேதி 2013 அன்று மாலியில் கொல்லப்பட்ட கிளாட் வெர்லோன் மற்றும் கிஸ்லைன் டுபோன்ட் ஆகிய இரண்டு பிரெஞ்சு ஊடகவியலாளர்களின் நினைவாக இந்த தேதி தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டது.
- ஊடகவியலாளர்கள் தங்கள் பணியை சுதந்திரமாகவும் தேவையற்ற குறுக்கீடுகளும் இல்லாமல் செய்வதற்கு பாதுகாப்பான மற்றும் சாதகமான சூழலை மேம்படுத்தவும், ஊடக ஊழியர்களுக்கு எதிரான குற்றங்களில் ஈடுபடுபவர்களை நீதியின் முன் நிறுத்தவும், பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு தகுந்த நிவாரணம் கிடைப்பதை உறுதி செய்யவும், இத்தினமானது அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.

Mahendralal Sarkar - Social Reformer

மகேந்திரலால் சர்க்கார் - Mahendralal Sarkar - Doctor - Social Reformer :
✒️Mahendralal Sarkar, a great physician and social activist, was born on 2nd November 1833 in West Bengal. He got an opportunity to write a review for William Morgan's book on homeopathic medicine. He first read the book to record his views against homeopathy. But after completing his studies, he realized the merits of homeopathy and got proper training and started working as a homeopathic doctor. In 1876, he officially started a scientific organization called 'Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science'. The organization also became a platform for many scientists including Sir C.V.Raman to conduct important research and achieve many scientific achievements. Such a great social activist Mahendralal Sarkar passed away on 23rd February 1904.
- சிறந்த மருத்துவரும், சமூக ஆர்வலருமான மகேந்திரலால் சர்க்கார் 1833ஆம் ஆண்டு நவம்பர் 2ஆம் தேதி மேற்கு வங்கத்தில் பிறந்தார்.
- ஹோமியோபதி மருத்துவம் பற்றி வில்லியம் மார்கன் எழுதிய புத்தகத்திற்கு விமர்சனம் எழுதும் வாய்ப்பு இவருக்கு கிடைத்தது. ஹோமியோபதிக்கு எதிராக தன் கருத்துக்களை பதிவு செய்வதற்காகத்தான் முதலில் அந்த நூலைப் படித்தார். ஆனால், படித்து முடித்த பிறகு ஹோமியோபதியின் சிறப்பை உணர்ந்து உரிய பயிற்சி பெற்று ஹோமியோபதி மருத்துவராகப் பணியாற்றத் தொடங்கினார்.
- 1876ஆம் ஆண்டு அதிகாரப்பூர்வமாக 'இந்தியன் அசோசியேஷன் ஃபார் தி கல்டிவேஷன் ஆஃப் சயின்ஸ்' (Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science) என்ற அறிவியல் அமைப்பு இவரால் தொடங்கப்பட்டது. சர்.சி.வி.ராமன் உள்ளிட்ட ஏராளமான அறிவியல் அறிஞர்கள் முக்கிய ஆராய்ச்சிகள் நடத்தி பல அறிவியல் சாதனைகளை நிகழ்த்துவதற்கு இந்த அமைப்பு ஒரு களமாகவும் அமைந்தது.
- சிறந்த சமூக ஆர்வலரான மகேந்திரலால் சர்க்கார் 1904ஆம் ஆண்டு பிப்ரவரி 23ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.
பரிதிமாற் கலைஞர் - Parithimar Kalaignar - Professor of Tamil :
✒️Today is his memorial day!
✒️Parithimar Kalaignar who contributed to Tamil was born on July 6, 1870 in Vilacheri next to Thiruparangundram, Madurai. His original name was Suryanarayana Shastriyar. During his education, he passed as the first student in Tamil language and philosophy and won gold medal. Impressed by his ability to narrate in a senthamiz style, students from other departments also come to his class and hear lessons with interest. He taught Tolkappiyam, Nannool and Shaiva religious books to the students who had knowledge and interest in Tamil. He established the Chennai Senthamizurai Sangam. He changed his vernacular name of Suryanarayana Shastriyar to Parithimar Kalaignar in Tamil. He has written many books. Parithimar Kalaignar, who first established Tamil as a classical language and worked for the betterment of Tamils throughout his life, passed away on 2nd November 1903. - இன்று இவரின் நினைவு தினம் !
- தமிழுக்கு தொண்டாற்றிய பரிதிமாற் கலைஞர் 1870ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூலை 6ஆம் தேதி மதுரை திருப்பரங்குன்றம் அடுத்த விளாச்சேரியில் பிறந்தார். இவரின் இயற்பெயர் சூரியநாராயண சாஸ்திரியார்.
- இவர் தமிழ் மொழி மற்றும் தத்துவத்தில் முதல் மாணவராகத் தேர்ச்சி பெற்று தங்கப்பதக்கம் வென்றார். செந்தமிழ் நடையில் சுவைபட விவரிக்கும் இவரின் ஆற்றலில் ஈர்க்கப்பட்டு, பிற துறை மாணவர்களும் இவரது வகுப்புக்கு வந்து ஆர்வத்துடன் பாடம் கேட்பார்கள்.
- தமிழ் அறிவும், ஆர்வமும் கொண்ட மாணவர்களுக்கு தொல்காப்பியம், நன்னூல், சைவ சமய சாஸ்திர நூல்களைக் கற்பித்தார். சென்னை செந்தமிழுரைச் சங்கத்தை நிறுவினார்.
- இவர் சூரியநாராயண சாஸ்திரியார் என்ற தனது வடமொழிப் பெயரை பரிதிமாற் கலைஞர் என தமிழில் மாற்றிக்கொண்டார். இவர் ஏராளமான நூல்களை எழுதியுள்ளார்.
- தமிழை செம்மொழி என முதன்முதலில் மெய்ப்பித்த மற்றும் தமிழர் முன்னேற்றத்திற்காக வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் பாடுபட்ட பரிதிமாற் கலைஞர் 1903ஆம் ஆண்டு நவம்பர் 2ஆம் தேதி மறைந்தார்.
