The Metro Railways (Construction of Works) Act, 1978 :

✒️It was enacted on 21st August 1978 and came into force on 1st February 1979, to provide for the construction of works relating to metro railways in the metropolitan cities and for matters connected therewith. And the same amended as; The Metro Railways (Construction of Works) Amendment Act, 1982 : Enacted on 21st August 1982 and enforced on 15th May 1983, to amend to Metro Railways (Construction of Works) Act, 1978.

The Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972 :

✒️It was enacted on 21st August 1972 & came into force on 16th September 1972, to provide for a scheme for the payment of gratuity to employees engaged in factories, mines, oilfields, plantations, ports, railway companies, shops or other establishments and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

P.Jeeva - Freedom Fighter & Social Reformer

ப.ஜீவானந்தம் - P.Jeevanandham (Jeeva), Freedom Fighter, Social Reformer, Political Leader, Litterateur, Communist :

✒️Hailed by Mahatma Gandhi as the "property of the Indian nation", P. Jeevanandam, who fought for the principle of communism, was born on August 21, 1907 in a town called Boothapandi next to Nagercoil. He was inspired by Gandhiji's call for non-cooperation movement. He heard the campaign speech of patriot Thirikoodasundaram Pillai on the plan to abolish the wearing of foreign cloths and started wearing Katharadai from then on. He was actively involved in the abolition of untouchability. He participated in the non-cooperation movement in 1932 and went to jail. His mindset changed in prison. Inspired by communist ideals. Almost 10 years of his 40 years of public life were spent in prison. The songs written by him for the labor struggles held in various contexts till the independence of the country and the speeches he gave from town to town made the workers rise up. The Tamil Nadu government has constructed a memorial hall of P.Jeevanandham in Nagercoil to honor his memory. A government school in Puducherry is named after him. P.Jeevanandham, who was a selfless example for the younger generation, passed away on 18th January, 1963.

• மகாத்மா காந்தியால் 'இந்திய தேசத்தின் சொத்து" என்று பாராட்டப்பட்டவரும், பொதுவுடைமை கொள்கைக்காக பாடுபட்டவருமான ப.ஜீவானந்தம் 1907ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 21ஆம் தேதி நாகர்கோவிலை அடுத்த பூதப்பாண்டி என்ற ஊரில் பிறந்தார்.

• இவர் காந்திஜியின் ஒத்துழையாமை இயக்கத்துக்கான அறைகூவலால் ஈர்க்கப்பட்டார். அந்நியத் துணிகள் அணிவதை ஒழிக்க வேண்டும் என்ற திட்டத்தில் தேசபக்தர் திருகூடசுந்தரம் பிள்ளையின் பிரச்சார உரையை கேட்ட இவர், அன்றிலிருந்து கதராடை அணியத் தொடங்கினார். இவர் தீண்டாமை ஒழிப்பில் தீவிரமாக ஈடுபட்டார்.

• இவர் 1932ஆம் ஆண்டு ஒத்துழையாமை இயக்கத்தில் கலந்துகொண்டு சிறை சென்றார். சிறையில் இவரது சிந்தனைப்போக்கு மாறியது. கம்யூனிசக் கோட்பாடுகளால் ஈர்க்கப்பட்டார். இவரது 40 ஆண்டுகால பொதுவாழ்வில் ஏறக்குறைய 10 ஆண்டுகள் சிறையில் கழிந்தது. நாடு விடுதலை அடையும் வரை பல்வேறு சூழல்களில் நடைபெற்ற தொழிலாளர் போராட்டங்களுக்காக இவர் எழுதிய பாடல்களும், ஊர் ஊராகச் சென்று இவர் ஆற்றிய உரைகளும் தொழிலாளர்களை எழுச்சி பெறச் செய்தன.

• தமிழக அரசு இவரது நினைவைப் போற்றும் வகையில் நாகர்கோவிலில் பொதுவுடைமை வீரர் ப.ஜீவானந்தம் மணிமண்டபம் அமைத்துள்ளது. புதுச்சேரியில் அரசுப் பள்ளிக்கு இவரது பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. தன்னலம் கருதாமல் இளைய தலைமுறையினருக்கு முன்னுதாரணமாகத் திகழ்ந்த ப.ஜீவானந்தம், 1963ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 18ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.

பிரம்ம பிரகாஷ் - Brahm Prakash, Metallurgist :

✒️Brahm Prakash, the first director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, was born on 21 August 1912 in Lahore, Pakistan. Along with renowned scientist Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar, he carried out many researches. In 1949, he was selected by Homi Baba as a metallurgist at the Atomic Energy Institute in Mumbai. In 1951, he was appointed as the first Chairman of the Department of Metallurgy at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He developed a modern curriculum for metallurgical studies at the Indian Institute of Science. From 1952 to 1972, he played an important role in the country's nuclear energy projects. He served till the end as a member of the Space Commission. Recipient of Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan awards. He played an important role in many successful satellite and missile projects of the country and died on January 3, 1984.

• விக்ரம் சாராபாய் விண்வெளி மையத்தின் முதல் இயக்குநர் டாக்டர் பிரம்ம பிரகாஷ் 1912ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 21ஆம் தேதி பாகிஸ்தானின் லாகூர் நகரில் பிறந்தார்.

• பிரபல விஞ்ஞானி சாந்தி ஸ்வரூப் பட்னாகருடன் இணைந்து, பல ஆராய்ச்சிகளை மேற்கொண்டார். 1949ஆம் ஆண்டு பம்பாயில் உள்ள அணுசக்தி நிறுவனத்தில் ஹோமி பாபாவால் உலோகவியலாளராகத் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்டார்.

• 1951ஆம் ஆண்டு பெங்களூர், இந்திய அறிவியல் கழகத்தில் உலோகவியல் துறையின் முதல் தலைவராக நியமிக்கப்பட்டார். இந்திய அறிவியல் கழகத்தில் உலோகவியல் படிப்புக்கு நவீன பாடத்திட்டம் வகுத்தார்.

• இவர் 1952ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் 1972ஆம் ஆண்டு வரை நாட்டின் அணுசக்தி திட்டங்களில் முக்கியப் பங்காற்றினார். விண்வெளி ஆணைய உறுப்பினராக இறுதிவரை செயல்பட்டார். பத்மஸ்ரீ, பத்ம விபூஷண் விருதுகளைப் பெற்றுள்ளார்.

• நாட்டின் பல வெற்றிகரமான செயற்கைக்கோள், ஏவுகணை திட்டங்களில் முக்கியப் பங்காற்றிய இவர் 1984ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 3ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.

🌟 2004ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 21ஆம் தேதி இந்திய விடுதலைப் போராட்ட வீரர் சச்சிதானந்த ராவுத்ராய் மறைந்தார் - Sachidananda Routray, an Indian freedom fighter & Poet, passed away on August 21, 2004.

🌟 1995ஆம் ஆண்டு ஆகஸ்ட் 21ஆம் தேதி நோபல் பரிசு பெற்ற இந்திய வானியல் இயற்பியலாளர் சுப்பிரமணியன் சந்திரசேகர் மறைந்தார் - Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, the Nobel Prize-winning Indian astrophysicist, passed away on August 21, 1995.
