The High Court Judges Salaries and Conditions of Service Act, 1954:
- It was enacted & enforced on 20th May 1954, to regulate salaries and certain conditions of service of the Judges of High Courts.
The Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961:
- It was enacted on 20th May 1961 & came into force on 1st July 1961, to prohibit the giving or taking of dowry.
The Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961 :
- It was enacted on 20th May 1961 & came into force on 26 January 1962, to provide for the welfare of motor transport workers and to regulate the conditions of their work.
The Army Act, 1950 :
- It was enacted on 20th May 1950 & came into force on 22nd July 1950, to consolidate and amend the law relating to the Government of the regular Army.
The Delivery of Books and Newspapers (Public Libraries) Act, 1954:
- It was enacted & enforced on 20th May 1954, to provide for delivery of books to the National Library and other public libraries.
The Union Duties of Excise (Distribution) Act, 1979 :
- It was enacted on 20th May 1979 and as per sec 1(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st April 1979, to provide for the payment out of the Consolidated Fund of India of sums equivalent to a part of the net proceeds of certain Union duties of excise to the States to which the law imposing the duty extends and for the distribution of those sums among those States in accordance with the principles recommended by the Finance Commission in its report dated the 25th day of November, 1994.
உலக தேனீக்கள் தினம் - World Bee Day :
- World Bee Day is celebrated on May 20 every year. A pioneer of beekeeping Anton Jansa was born today and his birthday is celebrated as World Bee Day. Bees play an important role in the ecosystem, and bees are a symbol of activity, exploration, and collective effort. World Bee Day is celebrated to make mankind aware of the importance of such bees.
- உலக தேனீக்கள் தினம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மே 20 அன்று கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. இந்த நாளில் தேனீ வளர்ப்பின் முன்னோடியான அன்டன் ஜான்சா என்பவர் பிறந்தார். அவரது பிறந்த தினமே உலக தேனீ தினமாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. சுற்றுச்சூழல் அமைப்பில் தேனீக்கள் முக்கிய பங்காற்றுகின்றன,சுறுசுறுப்பு, தேடல், கூட்டு முயற்சி போன்றவற்றின் அடையாளமாக தேனீக்கள் உள்ளன. அத்தகைய தேனீக்களின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை மனித குலத்திற்கு உணர்த்தவே உலக தேனீக்கள் தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
உலக அளவியல் தினம் - World Metrology Day :
- நாம் இவ்வுலகில் காணக்கூடிய மற்றும் பயன்படுத்தக்கூடிய அனைத்துமே நிறை, மீட்டர், அடி, கொள்ளளவு என்று சர்வதேச அளவியல் சார்ந்து உள்ளன. எனவே அளவியலின் முக்கியத்துவத்தினை உணர்த்துவதற்காக ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மே 20ஆம் தேதி உலக அளவியல் (Metrology) தினம் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது.
- முதன்முதலாக 1875ஆம் ஆண்டு 17 நாடுகள் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து உலகில் உள்ள அனைத்து நாடுகளும் ஒரே அளவினை பயன்படுத்த சர்வதேச அளவியலை உருவாக்கினர். இதன்மூலமாக வெவ்வேறிடத்தில் உற்பத்தியாகும் பொருட்களை ஒன்றிணைக்க சர்வதேச அளவியல் பயன்படுகிறது.
சர்வதேச மனிதவள தினம் - International Human Resources (HR) Day:
- This year (2024), the annual event of International Human Resources Day falls on 20 May. The purpose of the day is to honor the commitment of HR professionals to create a happy workplace, attract and retain top talent, and take and lead strategic initiatives to improve the organization.

பாலு மகேந்திரா - Balanathan Benjamin Mahendran - Director - Cinematographer - Screenwriter - Editor :
- இந்தியத் திரைப்பட இயக்குநரும், ஒளிப்பதிவாளருமான பாலு மகேந்திரா 1939ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 20ஆம் தேதி இலங்கையில் மட்டக்களப்பு அருகே அமிர்தகழி என்ற சிற்றூரில் பிறந்தார். இவரது இயற்பெயர் மகேந்திரா.
- இவருடைய பட்டயப்படிப்பு திரைப்படத்தைக் கண்டு, செம்மீன் படப்புகழ் ராமு காரியத் அவரது நெல்லு படத்திற்கு ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்ய அழைத்தார். அதைத் தொடர்ந்து பல மலையாள திரைப்படங்களுக்கு ஒளிப்பதிவு செய்தார்.
- பிறகு 1977ஆம் ஆண்டு பாலு மகேந்திரா அவரது முதல் படமான கோகிலாவை கன்னட மொழியில் இயக்கினார்.
- சிறந்த இயக்குநர், சிறந்த திரைக்கதை, சிறந்த படத்தொகுப்பு என இம்மூன்று துறைகளிலும் விருதுபெற்ற ஒரே திரைப்பட நிபுணர் இவரே.
- சமகாலத் தமிழ் வாழ்க்கையை சித்தரிக்கும் பல படைப்புகளை உருவாக்கிய இவர் 2014ஆம் ஆண்டு பிப்ரவரி 13ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.

🌟 1957ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 20ஆம் தேதி இந்திய சுதந்திர போராட்ட வீரரும், சென்னை மாகாணத்தின் முன்னாள் முதல்வருமான த.பிரகாசம் மறைந்தார் - On May 20, 1957, T. Prakasam, an Indian freedom fighter and former Chief Minister of Chennai, passed away.
- Aspirants, wants to know about the Former C.M. Deeply must read, T.Prakasam's autobiography is titled Naa Jeevitha Yatra (My Life's Journey) it has four parts – the first two are about his early life and his involvement in freedom fighting in India, the third is about getting independence and government formation in Andhra Pradesh, and the last (written by Tenneti Viswanadham) discusses his political career and the changes he brought to Andhra.

🌟 1570ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 20ஆம் தேதி உலகின் முதலாவது நவீன நிலவரையை (atlas) ஆபிரகாம் ஓர்ட்டேலியஸ் வரைந்தார் - Abraham Ortelius drew the world's first modern atlas (atlas) on May 20, 1570.
- The Dutch Renaissance scholar-cartographer Abraham Ortelius (1490-1598) was one of the first cartographers to successfully map the globe. He was responsible for the creation of the first commercially successful world atlas, the Cosmographia published in 1555. Despite his enormous influence in early Western cartography, little attention has been paid to his role in mapping the New World. During the sixteenth century European explorers ventured into uncharted territory to discover what lay beyond Europe's shores. In particular, Europeans began exploring North America in search of the fabled Northwest Passage that connected both continents. To this end they needed maps to navigate their way through the treacherous waters of the Arctic Circle and the Atlantic Ocean. Ortelius was one of the first geographers to create detailed maps of the world. His cosmographic work included accurate representations of the Earth and its populated regions. One of the earliest works he produced the 1570 edition of Mundus Novus. The book contained 30 engraved plates depicting the continents and regions in intricate detail. These illustrations were accompanied by text describing the various regions and peoples of the world. Ortelius described the many wonders of different lands, including its people and animals. He also attempted to explain how these nations related to each other. Ortelius' interest in geography extended well beyond cartography; he explored the natural sciences and wrote treatises on astronomy, botany, and medicine. He played a pivotal role in understanding the history and culture of the Americas. His extensive knowledge of the New World enabled him to describe the continent's flora, fauna, climate, and terrain like no other before him.

🌟 1998ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 20ஆம் தேதி ப்ளூடூத் (Bluetooth) வெளியிடப்பட்டது - Bluetooth was released on May 20, 1998.
- Now a days, Bluetooth is widely used for various purposes and it easily enables two devices to connect wirelessly via radio-frequency (RF) waves. Bluetooth operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, which means that it can penetrate through walls and metal surfaces with ease. However, this makes it susceptible to interference from other wireless signals like WiFi, cordless phones, microwaves, radar, etc. Bluetooth uses Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS), a form of frequency hopping between 79 different channels over a range of 1 meter. This spread spectrum technique helps to avoid interference by spreading out its signal across a large area instead of concentrating all its power in a small region.
