It can also be about an event. In that line today we are going to know about "FCMP Act - PO Act  - The Salaries and Allowances of Officers of Parliament Act, 1953 - National Dengu Day - Ilya Ilyich Mechnikov, Zoologist - Theodore Maiman, Engineer - Junko Tabei, Mountaineer - Sikkim, Incorporation."


The Finance Commission (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1951:

  • It was enacted & enforced on 16th May 1951, to determine the qualifications requisite for appointment as members of the Finance Commission and the manner in which they shall be selected, and to prescribe their powers.

The Probation of Offenders Act, 1958 :
  • It was enacted & enforced on 16th May 1958, to provide for the release of offenders on probation or after due admonition and for matters connected therewith.

The Salaries and Allowances of Officers of Parliament Act, 1953 : 

  • It was enacted on 16th may 1953 and as per Section 1(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the first day of May, 1953, to provide for the salaries and allowances of certain officers of Parliament.

  • Section 2 defines: "officer of Parliament" means any of the following officers, namely, the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Council of States and the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of the House of the People.

தேசிய டெங்கு தினம் - National Dengue Day :

  • ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் மே 16 ஆம் தேதி தேசிய டெங்கு தினம் கடைப்பிடிக்கப்படுகிறது, இதன் முக்கிய நோக்கம் நோய்த் தொற்று மற்றும் அதைத் தடுப்பது குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வை மக்களிடையே ஏற்படுத்துவது - National Dengue Day is observed on May 16 every year with the main objective of creating awareness among people about the disease and its prevention.


Ilya Ilyich Mechnikov - Zoologist


இலியா மெச்னிகோவ் - Ilya Ilyich Mechnikov -  Russian & French Zoologist :

  • நோய் எதிர்ப்பாற்றல் குறித்த ஆய்வுகளின் முன்னோடியான இலியா இல்யிச் மெச்னிகோவ் 1845ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 16ஆம் தேதி ரஷ்யாவின் பானாசோவ்கா என்ற ஊரில் (தற்போது உக்ரைனில் உள்ளது) பிறந்தார். 

  • இவர் கடல்வாழ் உயிரினங்கள் குறித்த ஆராய்ச்சியில் ஈடுபட்டார். பிறகு காட்டிங்கன், கீஸன் பல்கலைக்கழகங்கள், மூனிச் அகாடமி ஆய்வுக்கூடங்களில் பணிபுரிந்தார்.

  • இவர் நூற்புழுக்கள் குறித்தும், தட்டைப் புழுக்களின் செல்லக செரிமானம், விலங்கினங்களின் கருவளர்ச்சி குறித்தும் ஆராய்ந்தார். 

  • நுண்ணுயிரிகளின் நோய் எதிர்ப்பு சக்தி குறித்த ஆராய்ச்சிகளில் ஆர்வம் கொண்டார். நட்சத்திர மீனின் லார்வா குறித்து ஆராய்ந்தார். உயிரினங்களின் உடலில் இயற்கையாகவே நோய் எதிர்ப்பு சக்தி அமைப்பு இருப்பதைக் கண்டறிந்தார்.

  • இதற்காக இவருக்கு 1908ஆம் ஆண்டு பால் எர்லிச் என்பவருடன் இணைந்து மருத்துவத்திற்கான நோபல் பரிசு வழங்கப்பட்டது. மூப்பியல் (gerontology) என்ற சொல்லை முதன்முதலாகப் பயன்படுத்தினார்.

  • 'நோய் எதிர்ப்பு சக்தி துறையின் தந்தை" என்று போற்றப்படும் இலியா மெச்னிகோவ் 1916ஆம் ஆண்டு மறைந்தார்.

தியொடர் மாய்மன் - Theodore Maiman :


  • 1960ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 16ஆம் தேதி கலிபோர்னியாவில் ஹியூஸ் ஆய்வுக்கூடத்தில் தியொடர் மாய்மன் முதலாவது லேசர் ஒளிக்கதிரை இயக்கினார் - Theodore Maiman operates the first laser beam on May 16, 1960 at the Hughes Laboratory in California. Dr. Maiman developed the world's first commercial ruby laser in 1967. This invention revolutionized medicine by allowing doctors to perform operations on tumors without cutting into healthy flesh.


ஜூன்கோ டபெய் - Junko Tabei :


  • 1975ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 16ஆம் தேதி ஜூன்கோ டபெய், எவரெஸ்ட் சிகரத்தை அடைந்த முதற்பெண் ஆனார் - Junko Tabei became the first woman to reach the summit of Everest on May 16, 1975.


சிக்கிம் - Sikkim :


  • 1975ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 16ஆம் தேதி பொதுமக்கள் வாக்கெடுப்பின் அடிப்படையில், சிக்கிம் இந்தியாவின் ஒரு மாநிலமாக இணைக்கப்பட்டது - Sikkim was incorporated as a state of India on May 16, 1975 in a referendum.
