The National Judicial Appointments Commission Act, 2014 :
- It was enacted on 31st December 2014 and came into force on 13th April 2015, to regulate the procedure to be followed by the National Judicial Appointments Commission for recommending persons for appointment as the Chief Justice of India and other Judges of the Supreme Court and Chief Justices and other Judges of High Courts and for their transfers and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
- Struck down : On 16 October 2015, NJAC was struck down in a 4-1 majority verdict, the Supreme Court held that both the Constitution (Ninety-ninth Amendment) Act, 2014, and the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) Act, 2014, were unconstitutional as it would undermine the independence of the judiciary.
The National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 :
- It was enacted & enforced on 31st December 2008, to constitute an investigation agency at the national level to investigate and prosecute offences affecting the sovereignty, security and integrity of India, security of State, friendly relations with foreign States and offences under Acts enacted to implement international treaties, agreements, conventions and resolutions of the United Nations, its agencies and other international organisations and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
The Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947 :
- It was enacted & enforced on 31st December 1947, to constitute an Indian Nursing Council.
ச.வே.சுப்பிரமணியன் - Sa.Ve.Subramanian - Tamil Writer and Scholar :
✒️Sa.Ve.Subramanian, a Tamil scholar who made great contributions to Senthamil language, was born on 31st December, 1929 in Veerakeralamputhur, Nellai district. He worked as a Tamil lecturer in the V.O.C college, Tuticorin for three years. Later he worked as a lecturer at Thuya Saveriyar College, Palayankottai and University at Thiruvananthapuram. He headed the Tamil Department of Kerala University. He has written numerous books including Literary Memoirs, Mandhar Serappu, Ondru Nandru, Kamban Karpanai, Ilango's Literary Techniques, Tamil Literary History, Silappathikaram moolam, Silambum Chinthamaniyum, Bharathiyar Life Principles, Tamil Nikandus. In 1969; He started Thiruvalluvar College at Papanasam in Nellai District. In 1985; He built a town called 'Tamilur' on 100 acres of land in Nellai district and lived there. The name of his house was 'Tamilagam'. He has received numerous awards including the Raja Sir Muthiah Chettiar Memorial Award, Ramanathapuram King Bhaskara Sethupathi Award, Avvai Tamil Arulalar Award. He is the first Tamil scholar to receive the 'Basha Samman' award of the Indian Sahitya Academi. He published a research book titled "Tolkappiyam is the first Universal grammar in the Universe" in 2015. 'Tamil Nayiru', 'Sadhanai Chemmal Sa.Ve.Su.' His biographical books have been published under these titles. Sa.Ve.Subramaniam, who lived for Tamil all his life, passed away on January 12, 2017.
- செந்தமிழ் மொழிக்கு சிறப்பாக தொண்டாற்றிய தமிழறிஞர் ச.வே.சுப்பிரமணியன் 1929ஆம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 31ஆம் தேதி நெல்லை மாவட்டம் வீரகேரளம்புதூரில் பிறந்தார்.
- மூன்றாண்டுகள் தூத்துக்குடி வ.உ.சி. கல்லூரியில் தமிழ் ஆசிரியராகப் பணியாற்றினார். பின்பு பாளையங்கோட்டை தூய சவேரியார் கல்லூரியிலும், திருவனந்தபுரம் பல்கலைக்கழக கல்லூரியிலும் விரிவுரையாளராகப் பணியாற்றினார். கேரளப் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் தமிழ் துறை தலைவராக வழிநடத்தினார்.
- இவர் இலக்கிய நினைவுகள், மாந்தர் சிறப்பு, ஒன்று நன்று, கம்பன் கற்பனை, இளங்கோவின் இலக்கிய உத்திகள், தமிழ் இலக்கிய வரலாறு, சிலப்பதிகாரம் மூலம், சிலம்பும் சிந்தாமணியும், பாரதியார் வாழ்க்கை கொள்கைகள், தமிழ் நிகண்டுகள் உள்ளிட்ட ஏராளமான நூல்களை எழுதியுள்ளார்.
- 1969ஆம் ஆண்டு; நெல்லை மாவட்டம் பாபநாசத்தில் திருவள்ளுவர் கல்லூரியை தொடங்கினார். 1985ஆம் ஆண்டு; நெல்லை மாவட்டத்தில் 100 ஏக்கர் நிலப்பரப்பில் 'தமிழூர்" என்ற ஊரை உருவாக்கி அங்கு வாழ்ந்தார். இவரது வீட்டின் பெயரே 'தமிழகம்".
- இவர் ராஜா சர் முத்தையா செட்டியார் நினைவுப் பரிசு, ராமநாதபுரம் மன்னர் பாஸ்கர சேதுபதி விருது, அவ்வை தமிழ் அருளாளர் விருது உள்ளிட்ட ஏராளமான விருதுகளை பெற்றுள்ளார். இந்திய சாகித்ய அகாடமியின் 'பாஷா சம்மான்" விருது பெற்ற முதல் தமிழறிஞர் என்ற பெருமைக்குரியவர்.
- "Tolkappiyam is the first Universal grammar in the Universe" என்ற தலைப்பில் ஒரு ஆய்வு நூலை 2015ஆம் ஆண்டு வெளியிட்டுள்ளார். 'தமிழ் ஞாயிறு", 'சாதனைச் செம்மல் ச.வே.சு." ஆகிய தலைப்புகளில் இவருடைய வாழ்க்கை வரலாறு நூல்கள் வெளிவந்துள்ளன.
- வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் தமிழுக்காகவே வாழ்ந்த ச.வே.சுப்பிரமணியம், 2017ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 12ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.

தியாகி விஸ்வநாத தாஸ் - S.S.Viswanatha Dass - Indian freedom fighter :
✒️Today is S.S.Viswanatha Dass's memorial day!
✒️S.S.Viswanatha Dass, freedom fighter and stage dramatist, was born on 16th June 1886 in Sivakasi. Driven by nationalism, he became involved in Mahatma Gandhi's policy of non-violence and joined the Congress movement. He was also called 'Veera Thiyagi' (Heroic Martyr) because he actively developed the spirit of freedom among the people through stage plays. After the Jallianwala Bagh incident, the song 'Punjab Padukolai Paril Kodiyadhu' (Punjab Massacre was deadly at the country) which he wrote became prominent in the freedom struggle. He introduced liberation politics through mythological dramas. He was jailed several times by the British government for his active participation in the freedom struggle. S.S.Viswanatha Dass passed away on 31st December 1940 while playing the role of Murugan.

- சுதந்திரப் போராட்ட தியாகியும், மேடை நாடகக் கலைஞருமான எஸ்.எஸ்.விஸ்வநாத தாஸ் 1886ஆம் ஆண்டு ஜூன் 16ஆம் தேதி சிவகாசியில் பிறந்தார்.
- தேசிய உணர்வால் உந்தப்பட்ட இவர், மகாத்மா காந்தியின் அகிம்சை கொள்கையில் ஈடுபாடு கொண்டு காங்கிரஸ் பேரியக்கத்தில் இணைந்தார். மேடை நாடகங்கள் வாயிலாக, மக்களிடையே சுதந்திர உணர்வை தீவிரமாக வளர்த்ததால், வீரத் தியாகி என்றும் அழைக்கப்பட்டார்.
- ஜாலியன் வாலாபாக் சம்பவத்தையடுத்து இவர் எழுதிய, பஞ்சாப் படுகொலை பாரில் கொடியது என்ற பாடல் விடுதலைப் போராட்டத்தில் முக்கிய இடம் பிடித்தது. புராண நாடகங்களின் வாயிலாக விடுதலை அரசியலை புகுத்தினார்.
- விடுதலைப் போராட்டத்தில் தீவிரமாக பங்கேற்றதால் பலமுறை ஆங்கிலேய அரசால் சிறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டார். முருகன் வேடத்தில் நடித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும்போது மேடையிலேயே விஸ்வநாத தாஸ் 1940ஆம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 31ஆம் தேதி மறைந்தார்.
காரன் வாலிஸ் பிரபு - Lord Corn Wallis - Former Governor-General of India & Known as Father of Civil Services in India :
✒️Lord Corn Wallis, former Governor General of India. Who created the Police Department in India. He systematically compiled the laws of that time. He was born on 31st December 1738, who appointed separate magistrates for each district, introduced many reforms in the judiciary and the legal service, and was called the "Father of Indian Civil Service".
- காரன் வாலிஸ் பிரபு,இந்தியாவின் முன்னாள் தலைமை ஆளுநர். இந்தியாவில் காவல் துறையை உருவாக்கியவர். அக்கால சட்டங்களை முறையாகத் தொகுத்தவர். ஒவ்வொரு மாவட்டத்திற்கும் தனி நீதிபதிகளை நியமித்தவர், நீதித்துறையிலும், உரிமையியல் சேவையிலும் பல சீர்திருத்தங்களைச் செய்ததற்காக "இந்திய பொது குடிமையியல் பணியின் தந்தை என்று அழைக்கப்படுபவர், 1738ஆம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 31ந்தேதி பிறந்தார்.

🌟1909ஆம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 31ஆம் தேதி மான்ஹட்டன் பாலம் திறக்கப்பட்டது - Manhattan Bridge opened on December 31, 1909.
