The Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act, 1974 (COFEPOSA) :
✒️It was enacted on 13th December 1974 and came into force on 19th December 1974, to provide for preventive detention in certain cases for the purposes of conservation and augmentation of Foreign Exchange and prevention of smuggling activities and for matters connected therewith.
- The said Act is not a punitive Act. It does not empower authority to punish a person without trial. It provides a preventive detention of person, before engaging in smuggling activities. A person can be detained under provisions of the Act, on the basis of suspicion that he will be engaged in smuggling activities but the detention must be followed both substantively and procedurally by detaining authorities.
- Section 11(6) provides that a person cannot be released on bail or bond or a court cannot release a person on bail or bond if detained under provisions of COFEPOSA, 1974.
- Section 12(3) provides that a person detained can be released for a specified period by Central Government or State Government with or without conditions. A bond may be asked from the person being released. If released person does not return on specified date, he can be imprisoned for two years and fine can be imposed.
The Customs Act,1962 :
✒️It was enacted on 13th December 1962 & came into force on 1st February 1963, to consolidate and amend the law relating to Customs.

லட்சுமி சந்த் ஜெயின் - Lakshmi Chand Jain - Independence activist - Socio-economic Development Expert - Writer :
✒️Lakshmi Chand Jain, a socio-economic development expert, was born on 13 December 1925 in Rajasthan. He participated in the freedom struggle like "Quit India Movement". He has also held many important responsibilities including being a member of the India Planning Commission. He helped found the Indian Co-operative Union and applied its principles to handicraft industries. In 1966, he started the Consumer Chain Cooperative Outlets and made products available at reasonable prices in the cities. In recognition of his services, he has been awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award. He is a great writer and has written many books including "Poverty, Environment, Development: A View from Gandhi's Window". Lakshmi Chand Jain died on 14 November 2010, who fought till the end for the upliftment of the backward sections of the society.
- சமூகப் பொருளாதார வளர்ச்சி நிபுணரான லட்சுமி சந்த் ஜெயின் 1925ஆம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 13ஆம் தேதி ராஜஸ்தானில் பிறந்தார்.
- இவர் வெள்ளையனே வெளியேறு போன்ற சுதந்திர போராட்டத்தில் கலந்துக் கொண்டவர். மேலும் இந்தியத் திட்டக்குழு உறுப்பினர் உள்ளிட்ட பல முக்கியமான பொறுப்புகளை வகித்துள்ளார்.
- இந்திய கூட்டுறவு யூனியன் நிறுவப்பட்டதற்கும், அதன் கொள்கைகளை கைவினைப் பொருட்கள் தொழில்களுக்குப் பயன்படுத்துவதற்கும் உதவினார்.
- 1966ஆம் ஆண்டு நுகர்வோர் சங்கிலித் தொடர் கூட்டுறவு விற்பனை நிலையங்களை ஆரம்பித்து நகரங்களில் பொருட்கள் நியாய விலையில் கிடைக்க வழிவகுத்தார். இவரது சேவைகளைப் பாராட்டி, ரமோன் மக்சேசே விருது வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. சிறந்த எழுத்தாளருமான இவர் பாவர்ட்டி, என்விரான்மென்ட் உள்ளிட்ட பல நூல்களை எழுதியுள்ளார்.
- சமூகத்தில் பின்தங்கிய பிரிவினரின் முன்னேற்றத்திற்காக இறுதிவரை பாடுபட்டு வந்த லட்சுமி சந்த் ஜெயின் 2010ஆம் ஆண்டு நவம்பர் 14ந் தேதி மறைந்தார்.
இலாசந்திர ஜோஷி - Ilachandra Joshi - Writer - Translator :
✒️Ilachandra Joshi, who wrote psychological novels in Hindi literature, was born on 13th December 1903 in the state of Uttarakhand. He was 12 years old when his first story was published. His novel 'Sanyasi' published in 1940 brought him great fame. His novels including Lajja, Muktipath, Gypsy, Nirvasit, Pret Aur chhaya are very popular. He translated Tagore's works into Hindi. Ilachandra Joshi, hailed as the greatest creator of the world of Hindi literature, died in 1982.
- இந்தி இலக்கியத்தில் மனோதத்துவ நாவல்களை எழுதிய இலாசந்திர ஜோஷி 1903ஆம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 13ஆம் தேதி உத்தராகண்ட் மாநிலத்தில் பிறந்தார்.
- இவருடைய முதல் கதை வெளிவந்தபோது இவருக்கு வயது 12. 1929ஆம் ஆண்டு வெளிவந்த 'கிருணாமயீ" நாவல் இவருக்கு இலக்கிய உலகில் ஓரளவு அறிமுகத்தை பெற்றுத் தந்தது. 1940ஆம் ஆண்டு வெளியான 'சன்யாசி" நாவலால் இவர் பெரும் புகழை பெற்றார்.
- லஜ்ஜா, பர்தே கீ ராணி, முக்திபத், ஜிப்ஸி, சுபஹ், நிர்வாசித், பிரேத் அவுர் சாயா உள்ளிட்ட இவரது நாவல்கள் மிகவும் பிரபலமாகும்.
- இவர் தாகூரின் படைப்புகளை இந்தியில் மொழிபெயர்த்துள்ளார். இந்தி இலக்கிய உலகின் தலைசிறந்த படைப்பாளியாகப் போற்றப்பட்ட இலாசந்திர ஜோஷி 1982ஆம் ஆண்டு மறைந்தார்.
